The Seven Seals

A custom typeface inspired by the Book of Revelation

The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse present to you an original typeface inspired by the final book of the Bible: The Book of Revelation, traditionally attributed to John of Patmos. 

In Revelation, John receives a prophetic vision of the end of history and records what he witnesses. At the heart of this vision lies a mysterious sealed scroll. 

No one in heaven or on earth is found worthy to open it—until the Lamb alone is declared worthy to break its Seven Seals, gradually unveiling God's plan for humanity.

The Seven Seals symbolize the progressive revelation of hidden truth. As each seal is broken, another layer of history, judgment and human destiny is revealed. The opening of the first four seals introduces one of the Bible's most enduring images: the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Rather than illustrating Revelation literally, this project reimagines its symbolism as a visual journey through Western intellectual history starring four horsemen.

• Abraham, a black mule, accompanied by his son Isaac and a donkey, represents the beginning of absolute faith and obedience to God.
• Hubert van Eyck, mounted on a white horse, symbolizes the spiritual culmination of the medieval Christian worldview through the Ghent Altarpiece (The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb). 
• Leonardo da Vinci, riding a bronze horse, embodies the Renaissance and the rise of humanism, when mankind gradually shifted from a God-centered universe toward one centered on human reason and creativity.
• Friedrich Nietzsche, embracing a pale, sick horse rather than riding it, represents the philosophical turning point marked by his famous declaration that "God is dead." His figure also alludes to the historical episode in Turin, where he embraced a beaten horse shortly before his mental collapse.

Together these figures form a symbolic timeline, tracing the transformation of Western civilization from revelation to reason, from faith to modernity. The Horsemen are therefore not portrayed as agents of destruction alone, but as archetypes of profound historical and philosophical change.

The artwork itself is a hybrid creation, composed through a combination of Adobe Photoshop and artificial intelligence. At its current stage it remains a work in progress. While the overall composition has reached a cohesive form, further refinements to colour harmony, anatomical continuity and environmental integration are still being developed. These remaining adjustments are part of the creative process rather than imperfections to be concealed.

Like the typeface itself, the image is an act of interpretation rather than reproduction. It does not seek to recreate the Apocalypse, but to reveal it anew through the language of art, history and symbolism.

The Seven Seals invites the viewer to read history as Revelation itself suggests: not as a sequence of isolated events, but as the gradual unveiling of deeper truths.

This typeface was not designed as an isolated work of typography.

It is the script of an entire literary universe.

Written entirely in The Seven Seals is a thirty-chapter manuscript, conceived as a mythological and philosophical narrative exploring art, history, theology, consciousness and the evolution of meaning itself.

Fifteen chapters have already been entrusted to a publicly accessible digital time capsule, where they await discovery by future readers. The remaining fifteen chapters remain in the author's private possession, deliberately withheld until the appropriate moment. Together they form a single unfinished revelation, echoing the very structure of the sealed scroll that inspired this typeface.

The alphabet presented here is therefore more than a collection of letters. Each character possesses its own symbolic meaning and visual mythology, contributing to a writing system in which typography becomes narrative, and language itself becomes part of the artwork.

Like the Book of Revelation, The Seven Seals is not intended merely to be read.

It is intended to be unsealed.
